Bear with me, I am a very biased viewer. I like what I like and I defend it with a passion, I am aware of the faults but choose to ignore it and focus only on what I love about it. You can tell me for hours, why something is not great and I will give you that one reason as to why it's amazing. I'm also a binge addict, if the content is good, I binge. I'm the type of person who will patiently wait for all the episodes to come out before setting aside the entire weekend for snacks and binge. That being said I will first give you my nominations of the great anime's that came out in 2019 and then from that selection pick my favorite of the year.
Think of it as the Pixie awards, without any further delay here are my nominees

Rising of the Shield Hero
I discovered this gem by accident, well okay that's a lie, I went online and thought to myself "I will start a completely new anime if the synopsis looks good. and boy did Shield Hero's synopsis get me, read below :
" Naofumi Iwatani, an easygoing Japanese youth, was summoned into a parallel world along with three other young men from parallel universes to become the world's Cardinal Heroes and fight inter-dimensional hordes of monsters called Waves."
The first thing that got me was his name, it sounded unlike any other anime name I've heard and it had me by "Summoned into a parallel world". So I watched the pilot without a second thought. The pilot was charged with Otaku themes and completely surprised me with its themes on toxic femininity, cult culture, bullying, classicism, racism and the will to carry on even if all the odds are against you. Naofumi has had a target on his bank since the first episode and tethers on the line of it consuming him. he gains a party however during his travels that fight to keep him good.
The animation is beautiful;, the characters have depth and the story world is absolutely breathtaking. You will cry, laugh and cheer on as the party kicks butt and learn to own who they are. Even if you're a big butt-kicking chicken. (Yes, there is a Butt-Kicking chicken, if that doesn't win you over I don't know what will.)
My Hero Academia

Midoriya Izuku's Journey continues in season 4's Heroe's Rising arc, he now has to attend work studies which are for more intense than the internships he underwent in season 3. This season saw our young hero Mature and step up especially with the retirement of his hero and resident symbol of peace All-Might. Deku (his superhero name) has to take center stage and leave his childish fears and anxiety's behind.
He is the one who All-Might passed his power too and he has to step up to become the next symbol of peace. I loved this season because we got to see a little of All Might's backstory through the eyes of his former sidekick Night Eye who has the quirk to see into the future in real-time. It's still ongoing, season 4 hasn't wrapped up yet but so far it has been kicking major ass.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba

This one was a surprise for me, people kept recommending it to me and I hesitated, I'm usually suspicious of things that even the non-fandom people like. You can say I'm a little bit of a snob in that way but Boy oh Boy was I in for the ride of my life.
I instantly fell in love with the two main characters Tanjiro and Nezuko Hamada, siblings who had been hit by a terrible tragedy. A demon slaughtered their entire family and turned Nezuko into a demon as well. She could have easily given in to her demon side and eaten her brother but her love for him surpassed even her desire to kill. Having been turned into a Demon, the Demon Slayer corps urged Tanjiro to kill his demon sister but her love for him surpassed all that and now the two of them are on a mission to hunt and kill the father of all demons.
The animation is breathtaking, the music, the narrative, the freaking fight scenes, these two siblings steal the show multiple times and they are joined on their journey by Zenitsu (low key, high key my favorite character) and Inosuke, a very funny, badass character. The narrative is classic style Japan and it transports you completely into its world.
So now that we have the nominees which passed by and won by a very very close margin? I can't really decide. I give it to all these three but maybe you have your own favorites? I'd love to hear from you.
